Thank you....Michael Kors....

I received the March issue of Vogue magazine today. Flipping through I was struck by a quote by Michael Kors. "What is wrong with making an effort to look polished?" His inspiration for his latest collection came from Jackie Onassis Kennedy and Lee Radziwill. They were confident, minimal in dress and makeup and so elegant.

This quote struck me because I completely agree. What is wrong with making an effort to look polished? We are judged everyday by our appearance. In less than a minute we can leave a lasting impression on someone we meet for the first time. The larger percentage of that impression doesn't come from what we say, how we act or our body language...it comes from how we dress.

Cold weather relief for hands....

The cold has been taking a toll on my hands. But luckily, I have stumbled on what I think is a fabulous lotion. Crabtree & Evelyn's Hand Therapy Cream. My flavor right now is Lavender. It's nice and creamy, soaks in and doesn't leave my hands feeling greasy or waxy.

A great way to start off....

Well, there's no better way to kick off a new blog than by posting pictures from the Oscars. I have to say, I was very pleased with the choices made by most of the celebs. Color, clutches and bracelets shined on the cloudy, chilly red carpet. Here are a couple of my favorite hits and misses.

Nicole Kidman, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière

I love the dress, except for that loop coming out of the side of her neck. The color is gorgeous and the line of the dress accents her great figure.

Gwenyth Paltrow, in Zac Posen

Another great dress. The salmon color is great and I love how the style of the dress is very 1940's and glamorous. I'm seeing a trend with the long hair over the shoulders.

Kate Winslet, in Valentino Couture.

Great color. I love the ruched detail on the bustline and the draping of the fabric over the shoulder. Kate has the right figure to pull this dress off.

Jennifer Lopez, in Marchesa.

Oh Jenny, Jenny, Jenny. When I see this, I see, hair, boobs and hips. The detail at the top of the dress is way too much. She has a terrific hourglass figure that is being covered up by some chiffon curtains.

Anne Hathaway, in Valentino

Oh Anne...I love you, I love the dress, except for that hideous bow that attached itself to your bosom. Miranda Priestly would be disappointed I am sure.
